10am – 4pm
Ravenglass Village Hall
Join Kym for a day of dressmaking and learn how to make a skirt!
Learning to make your own clothes is such a rewarding skill. You can achieve the perfect fit and have a totally unique item to wear with pride!
In this workshop, you will learn how to read a commercial dressmaking pattern and apply all that knowledge to make your skirt.
We will work through the pattern step by step, taking measurements, cutting out, sewing seams, gathering, making pockets, and finishing with a neat hem.
You will leave the workshop with your amazing new skirt, the pattern (to make it in every colour!), and all the knowledge and confidence to sew more clothes at home!
What is included:
- A copy of the Cleo Skirt pattern from Made By Rae to work on in the workshop (we will be making view b)
- Notions for making your skirt (interfacing and elastic)
- Kym’s expert guidance and company for the day 🙂
- A copy of the full pattern and instructions – emailed to you as a PDF after the workshop.
- Plenty of Tea, Coffee and biscuits to keep you going throughout the day.
- Homemade Cake!
You will need to bring your sewing machine and the fabric and matching thread for your skirt. All other materials and tools will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch (or this can be ordered as an extra after booking if you prefer).
SKILL LEVEL: This is a beginners dressmaking workshop for those who are new to dressmaking (or needing a refresher) however, you should already know how to use your sewing machine.
If you are new to using a sewing machine but are interested in this class, please contact Kym for some more information. Get in touch here or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please Note: The pattern we will be working with is graded for waist measurements 26.5″ – 45″ and Hip measurements 34.5″ – 53″. Unfortunately, if your measurements fall outside this range, this workshop may not be suitable for you. Please feel free to get in touch if you are outside these measurements and would like to join this workshop.
Depending on how quickly you sew, there may be a little finishing off to do at home. You will leave with all the knowledge you need to continue if this is the case.
