MAKE! The Lakes is taking a trip to London!
Friday, 6th March 2020
10am – 4pm
Learn to make a custom-sized box cushion with a zipper in this entry-level upholstery class! Working with your own square or rectangular cushion you will learn to draft a cushion pattern template, how to construct a professional-looking cushion cover and how to install a zipper.
Box cushions can be made to fit a chair, a window seat or bench or can be used as floor cushions or pet beds. The possibilities are endless! You’ll be able to apply the techniques you learn in this class to make a box cushion in any size, giving you the ability to redecorate your home any time you wish!
Please note: for this class please plan to bring a square or rectangular cushion. You will learn techniques you can use to create a cushion cover for any shape at home. It’s ideal if you can bring the actual cushion or foam insert to make your cushion cover as accurate as possible!
Skills needed: Students should know how to use a sewing machine. We recommend our introductory class, This is a Sewing Machine, as a pre-requisite if you’re new to sewing.
Materials: You will need to bring or buy the fabric, thread and zipper for your cushion. The precise materials you need will vary depending on the size of your cushion. After you book the class, we’ll get in touch to help you determine your requirements. All materials can be purchased at The Village Haberdashery and students receive a 10% discount when they purchase materials at the shop.
