PAYMENTS
A deposit must be paid on booking to confirm your place.
The remainder of the retreat fee must be paid in full no later than 2 months before the retreat start date. If the total is not received by MAKE! The Lakes by this time you will lose your place and your deposit.
If you book a retreat less than two months before the start date, the full amount must be paid on booking, unless agreed otherwise by email.
Payments for deposits can be made through the website http://www.makethelakes.co.uk and these are processed by Paypal or Stripe. You do not need a Paypal account to pay in this way.
Once your deposit is paid you will then be invoiced for the remaining amount. This can be paid at any time up until 2 months before the retreat start date. You can also pay this in instalments if you wish.
If you are unable to pay online, cheques will be accepted with the following conditions: Cheques for the total amount must be received by MAKE! The Lakes no less than 10 weeks before the retreat start date and must clear no less than 2 months before the retreat start date. These can be sent in instalments also. The cheque for the deposit must be received no more than 7 working days after booking to hold your place. If you wish to pay by cheque please email makethelakes@gmail.com for further details.
CANCELLATIONS
If you wish to cancel your place on a MAKE! The Lakes retreat you must let us know by email (makethelakes@gmail.com). Your deposit will be forfeited in all circumstances and other fees will be returned as per the following timescales:
- Notified before 100 days of the retreat start date: All fee paid so far minus the deposit will be returned.
- Notified 35-99 days of the retreat start date: 50% of fee paid so far minus the deposit will be returned.
- Notified less than 35 days of the retreat start date: no refunds.
MAKE! The Lakes keeps retreat sizes small to give as much personal attention to each attendee as possible. To ensure fairness to all customers MAKE! The Lakes is unable to make any exceptions to this policy, including for reasons of illness*, travel or family emergency.

Bookings may be transferred to future dates at the discretion of MAKE! The Lakes.
In the unlikely event that MAKE! The Lakes needs to cancel a retreat, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will give you as much notice as possible and offer you a place on a future retreat or a full refund (including deposits).
For most retreats, a minimum number of students is required for the event to go ahead. MAKE! The Lakes reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a event that has not met this minimum number of students. If this happens, we will try to work with you to choose new dates that work for you or offer a full refund.
In the event of teacher or special guest illness, they will be replaced by an equally qualified teacher. No reimbursement will be made in this event.
MAKE! The Lakes does not accept liability for travel or other costs.
OTHER TERMS
Included materials differ between retreats, and you may be required to bring along some items for some events. All this information is stated on each individual event website page, and you will receive more information when you book. Feel free to email with any questions at any time.
MAKE! The Lakes is not liable for any accidents or injuries, to yourselves or personal possessions, that may occur whilst you are on a retreat.
MAKE! The Lakes requires students to conduct themselves in a reasonable and proper manner at all times during events. Any violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening, offensive or disruptive behaviour towards members of staff, teachers, or other students will not be tolerated, and will result in the offending student being asked to leave the event without re-imbursement. MAKE! The Lakes also reserves the right to refuse their attendance to future events in extreme cases.
MAKE! The Lakes reserves the right to alter pricing at any time and are under no obligation to issue a refund or voucher for any workshop booked outside of any offer or sale.
The use of handouts, designs, photography or materials from MAKE! The Lakes events is strictly prohibited for use in your own workshops, classes or business.
MAKE! The Lakes retreats are for adults over 18 years old only. By booking a retreat you confirm you are 18 years old or over.
MAKE! The Lakes may update this policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
